If you are a nurse in India booking the NCLEX-RN, you can sit the exam without leaving the country, but only in certain cities. The current international test centre list shows 20 sites across 15 Indian cities, most of them in the north and west, and none in Kerala. Below is the full list, followed by the ID, fee, and rescheduling rules that apply to international appointments, so you can pick a centre and book without surprises.

Clesial is an independent NCLEX-RN prep platform, not affiliated with or endorsed by NCSBN or Pearson VUE. Every rule here comes from nclex.com or ncsbn.org as checked on 14 October 2026, with links so you can confirm it yourself.

Where you can take the NCLEX in India

The NCLEX website posts a quarterly list of international test centres, linked from its testing locations page. The list current on 14 October 2026 is the July 2026 quarterly international test centre list. It names 20 test sites in India, spread over 15 cities. Where a city has two sites, each has its own address, so you are choosing a specific centre, not just a city, when you book.

City names follow the official list, which uses the older name Bangalore and labels one of the two Hyderabad sites "Hyderabad GHMC". Read by region, the spread is uneven:

  • Punjab and Chandigarh: 8 sites in Amritsar, Jalandhar, Ludhiana, Mohali, and Chandigarh.
  • Delhi NCR: 3 sites, one each in New Delhi, Gurugram, and Noida.
  • West: 4 sites, one each in Mumbai, Pune, Ahmedabad, and Surat.
  • South: 5 sites in Bangalore, Hyderabad, and Chennai.

Is there an NCLEX test centre in Kerala?

No. The July 2026 list has no site in Kerala, and no city in eastern or northeastern India appears on it either. If you live in Kerala, the nearest cities on the list are Bangalore and Chennai, with Hyderabad as the other southern option. Because the list is reissued every quarter, check the newest one before you plan the trip.

What ID you need: your passport

For international test centres, the NCLEX acceptable ID page lists one document: a passport book or card. Because nothing else is listed, cards such as Aadhaar, PAN, voter ID, or a driving licence do not count as your exam ID. Your passport must be:

  • Physical (not a digital copy) and not expired
  • Government-issued, with your name in Roman characters
  • Carrying a recent photograph and your signature
  • An exact match for the first and last name you registered with Pearson

If the passport has no signature, you also need a secondary ID that does. If your name changed after you registered, bring the original marriage licence, divorce decree, or court name-change document, showing the change in Roman characters. Arriving without acceptable ID means you are turned away, you must re-register and pay the exam fee again, and you lose the international scheduling fee.

What it costs to test in India

Testing outside the U.S. adds a second fee on top of registration. From the NCLEX fees page, for candidates seeking U.S. licensure:

  • Registration fee: $200 USD.
  • International scheduling fee: $150 USD, plus value added tax where applicable. It is charged when you schedule at an international centre and is not refunded for any reason.
  • Payment: a Visa, Mastercard, or American Express credit, debit, or prepaid card.

NCSBN has announced that the registration fee rises to $350 for registrations completed on or after 1 February 2027, while the international scheduling fee stays the same. The timing is covered in our NCLEX fee increase guide.

How to book an appointment in India

  1. Wait for your Authorization to Test (ATT). You cannot schedule an appointment until it arrives.
  2. Check the city and dates. Search the Pearson VUE test centre locator for the centre you want and the dates it has open.
  3. Schedule online or by phone. Use your Pearson account online, or call Pearson Candidate Services. The international scheduling fee is charged at this step.
  4. Read the confirmation email. Pearson sends correspondence only by email, so check that the centre address, date, and time are the ones you chose.

Book soon after your ATT arrives. nclex.com warns that waiting narrows the dates on offer, and if your ATT is close to expiring, a centre may not be able to seat you before it lapses. In that case you have to register and pay again.

How rescheduling works for international appointments

International appointments cannot be changed online. Per the NCLEX scheduling page, you must call Pearson Candidate Services to change one.

  • Deadline: call at least one full business day (24 hours) before your appointment, in local standard time. For a Saturday, Sunday, or Monday exam, call no later than the Friday before. Allow for national holidays, when offices may be closed.
  • Confirmation: a voicemail is not notice. You need to speak with an agent and receive a confirmation email.
  • Changing centres: moving to another international centre keeps your international scheduling fee. Moving to a U.S. centre forfeits it.
  • Missing the appointment: a no-show, or a change without proper notice, forfeits the exam fee and the scheduling fee, invalidates your ATT, and means registering and paying again.

Confirm the list before you book

This page reflects the July 2026 quarterly list, the newest one linked from nclex.com on 14 October 2026. The list is updated each quarter, and individual centres can open, close, or move. Before you pay, open the latest list on the testing locations page and search your city in the Pearson VUE locator. Confirm ID, fee, and rescheduling rules on nclex.com, which is the source for every rule here.

Practical tips for test day

  • Travel the day before if your centre is in another city. nclex.com asks you to arrive at least 30 minutes early, and arriving more than 30 minutes late can cost you the appointment and the fee.
  • Check the exact address. Five cities have two sites, so go to the one named in your confirmation email.
  • Carry the original passport. A photocopy or a phone photo does not meet the physical-ID rule.
  • Expect biometrics and a device bag. Check-in takes your signature, photograph, and a palm vein scan, and your phone goes into a sealable plastic bag.
  • No results at the centre. Official results come only from your nursing regulatory body.
